C is for Content

12 Jan

and content is for me!

This year make content at the core of your online/social media marketing strategy.

3 reasons why you should be creating content in 2011

1- Content helps people find you. What does that mean? Sure, you already have a website but chances are it is static and you don’t update it regularly. But creating more content, for example in the form of a blog, allows you to capture even more Google/search engine real-estate. So when people search, “social media consultant for small businesses” not only will your website show up (hopefully) but in addition your blog posts etc.

2- Content helps your existing and potential customers learn more about you and what you can offer. That doesn’t mean you should only talk about yourself (in fact it’s the exact opposite but more about that in another post) but you can definitely showcase more about your products and services.

3-With the content that you create you can educate, enlighten, enrich and even entertain your existing and potential customers, and consequently position yourself as someone they can trust and depend on when they need your particular service.

Bonus:
Good content gets shared: People will share good content on the different social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) and will consequently spread the word about you & your business!

In another post, we will look more at the types of content you can create.
