3 Tips for better Social Media Management

2 Apr

You’ve joined Twitter, Facebook, have a blog and a business to run. What you are short on-time!

There is no magic solution that will allow you to do all things at once, so what can you do?

1. Have a strategy

What is your goal of having a Twitter/Facebook page & blog? Do you want to listen to your customers & potentials?
Do you want to follow your competitors online? Showcase your products/expertise and thought leadership?
All these are important points to consider and will help you better shape how you want to use these tools and which ones will better suit your needs.

2- Have a schedule

Have a schedule. It’s easy to get excited and overwhelmed at the same time. You may start and be very involved only to have your enthusiasm wane as you don’t have a schedule to guide your efforts. For example, you may decide that you only want to blog on Mondays and Fridays and use the days in between to research and develop your ideas. Similarly, you may decide that you will check in with your Twitter friends 20 min every morning.

3-Don’t overextend yourself, find what you are comfortable with

You don’t need to be everywhere. You may find that Twitter is not your thing right now and that you are more comfortable with Facebook. Try, experiment and adjust. You will find your groove and see what’s right for you and your business. Not to mention, you will also discover where your audience hangs out more and want to spend more time there.

The key to better social media management is having a plan and being consistent. Over time you will find what works best for you.

Thoughts? What works for you?
